WHAT WE ARE ABOUT.
Encouraging and equipping youth and young adults to make disciples on the road in WORD. SPIRIT. ACTION
We do this through relationship and running events to encourage and equip you, your youth, and your church.
RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
We value an intimate relationship with God – Jesus Christ is the Lord, we are his servants; he is the Bridegroom, we are his bride; God is our Father, we are his children. We express this through specific acts of worship and devotion (particularly through music and song) combined with a lifestyle of worship that reflects intimacy and relationship with God, righteousness and justice. We recognise and value the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
RELATIONSHIP WITH EACHOTHER
We place a high value on community and family. Whilst we look for excellence in our music and teaching we will sacrifice professionalism in favour of being relational. We value informality and fun. We take God seriously but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We want our meetings and events to be accessible to everyone.
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WORLD GOD LOVES
We aim to make the message of God’s love relevant and accessible to everyone. We want to engage with the world around us and not escape it through creating a Christian sub-culture. We believe that worship, evangelism and justice go hand in hand and we recognise that we – through our words and actions – can be a living representation of God in our world. We express that relationship particularly in following the biblical commands to care for the poor, the broken, the marginalised and the dispossessed and to stand for justice as an expression of the Kingdom of God.
WHAT WE DO.
april camp / conference
Each April school holidays we get together all the youth groups that we've spent time with throughout the year and have an amazing time of camping, worship, teaching, serving, seminars, venues, games and community.
young adults re:treat
young adults retreat is designed for busy young adults to take a weekend to make space to simply be with God. This weekend is full of worship, friends, prayer, times of input and reflection time. Situated on the Southern Highlands, it’s a special place to hang out with God!
THE AUSTRALIAN STORY.
Soul Survivor NSW/ACT was born out of a passion and need to provide a base for what we called ‘middle-ground’ practice of worship, valuing intimacy with God, gifts of the Spirit and practical servant-evangelism.
In 2000, a small team from St Stephens Belrose and Holy Trinity Baulkham Hills held two nights of worship at Turramurra Uniting Church in Sydney with Mike Pilavachi. In 2001 we held our first conference at Northern Beaches Christian School, Terrey Hills. In 2004 we stepped out in faith by appointing Matt Gelding as full-time Director of Ministry for Soul Survivor NSW.
In 2013, we sent Deb Stanley down to Canberra as full-time Director of Ministry for Soul Survivor ACT & Regions. April 2016 marks the beginning of NSW/ACT running TWO consecutive April conferences; one in Canberra, one in Sydney.
Now Soul Survivor ACT & and the regions ministers throughout the year at camps, youth groups, church services, and host an annual camp aswell as a young adults retreat.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...
In 1993, Mike Pilavachi and his team in the UK were inspired by God to lead a ministry that would give youth and 20's a renewed vision of Jesus Christ. Soul Survivor has now been ministering in the UK for over two decades, impacting thousands of people for the gospel with the passion and action of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. Soul Survivor is now in action in Holland and here in Australia (Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra ).

The Conference Team
ACT & the regions
This is a group of 20 volunteers who come together to create and look after April Conference. They lead the site, projects, main meetings, venues, seminars, catering and admin that make conference run smoothly. They represent lots of different churches around Canberra and meet up for a conference team retreat in January and planning meetings in the lead up to April.
Matt has been in youth and 20's ministry for over 20 years. He completed 10 years with Belrose Anglican in 2003, finished his degree at Morling College and is now ministering full-time for Soul Survivor NSW since 2004.
He is married to Emma, dad to Joel, Laura and Ben.
Anna came on board to be soul.conference coordinator just after April 2015. We have loved her bringing all her logistics and event management skills to help us run TWO conferences in April 2017 and beyond!
Anna is studying ministry at Alphacrusis College and has a love affair with the ocean.
